Our Team

Kimiyo Kikuchi, PhD, is Director of the Department of Research Promotion and Professor at the Institute for Asian and Oceanian Studies. Her work focuses on global health—especially maternal and child health and digital health—drawing on extensive experience in international cooperation projects across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East through Japan’s Official Development Assistance. She earned her doctorate in Health Sciences from the University of Tokyo, following graduate study in philosophy at the University of Paris.

Dr. Kikuchi has held academic and leadership roles at the University of Tokyo and Kyushu University, including appointments supporting data-driven innovation, and she has also served as a Visiting Scientist at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Her contributions have been recognized through the Fulbright Scholar Program and the Women’s Challenge Award from the Government of Japan.
