Dr. Margaret E. Kruk is Distinguished Professor of HealthSystems and Medicine at Washington University Bursky School of Public Healthand Director of the QuEST Centers andNetwork, a multi-country research consortium generating evidence to improvehealth systems globally. Her research focuses on how health systems can improvehealth outcomes and build public trust in low- and high-income countries. Shechaired the Lancet Global Health Commission on High Quality Health Systems inthe SDG Era (HQSSCommission), which redefined health system quality measurement andimprovement and has been cited over 5000 times. The work has guided healthsystem planning and improvement in a range of countries.

Prior to Washington University, Dr. Kruk was Professor of HealthSystems at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Associate Professor ofHealth Policy and Management and Director of the Better Health SystemsInitiative at Columbia University, and Assistant Professor of Health Managementand Policy at the University of Michigan. She has held posts at the UnitedNations Development Program and McKinsey and Company and practiced medicine innorthern Ontario, Canada.  She holds an MD degree from McMasterUniversity and an MPH from Harvard University.
